Howick Township offers a range of recreation facilities, including community centres, arenas, sports fields, and parks, providing residents with access to a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and programs.

The arena 2024-2025 ice season spans October to March 31st. Our facility boasts 6 large dressing rooms to accommodate teams, leagues or tournaments.  Howick is Home to the Howick Hornets, Upper Maitland Mustangs and Saugeen Maitland Lighting minor hockey systems, as well as recreational adult hockey teams.  Special non-prime-time ice rates are available on weekdays.

The arena floor with a capacity of 1000 is available during the summer months for sports, dances and other large events.  The air-conditioned, fully accessible (elevator) Hall is equipped with a large kitchen and bar area for weddings and other events.  The estimated capacity of the Auditorium is 200 for events with fixed seating and the estimated capacity for events with tables and chairs is 150.

The Howick Library is a Branch of the Huron County Library which is situated within the Howick Community Centre facility.  It offers full library services and computer/internet access. There are various programs run throughout the week, that appeal to all ages.

A seasonal pool open from June to August 24th 2024, that offers swimming lessons, swimteam, aqua-fit classes, public swims and can be rented for birthday parties or other special occasions.

Belmore Community Centre

Home of the annual Belmore Maple Syrup Festival!  This facility houses a full ice surface for skating groups and sports a two sheet curling rink with a curling lounge that can host 44 people.

The arena floor is available during the summer for dances and other large events. There is a large ground level hall with a large modern kitchen and bar area for large gatherings which can host 398 people and a small hall/library meeting room for smaller groups.

Ball Parks in the Township of Howick

There are ball diamonds in each of the Township Villages available for daytime play and with lighting for night-time and tournament play.

Community Halls

Gorrie Community Hall

Gorrie Community Hall is located on Victoria Street and accommodates 150 people for meetings or other smaller events.  Also available is the library space and Legion room.

Wroxeter Community Hall

1094 Centre Street, Wroxeter 

Wroxeter Community Hall is located on Centre Street and has a capacity of 220 people.  This hall offers an upstairs room with bar area and stage and a downstairs games room with kitchen facilities.  Also available is a small meeting room.  This is a licensed facility.  Drop into the pub on Fridays!
