Changes coming to the Howick Landfill - OCTOBER 1, 2026

Changes Coming to the Howick Township Landfill!

Beginning October 1, 2026, the new weigh scale at the Howick Township Landfill will officially be operational.

Starting Saturday, October 3, all residents visiting the landfill will drive over the scale upon arrival before proceeding to the designated receiving area to sort and dispose of their items.

Please note: Residents will no longer enter the back portion of the landfill. All materials must be unloaded and sorted in the designated receiving area.

A $10 minimum charge will apply to chargeable materials. Yard waste, tires and scrap metal will continue to be accepted free of charge and are not subject to the minimum fee.

A full breakdown of applicable landfill fees is available on the Township of Howick Landfill webpage and will also be posted at the landfill.New scale. New process. Same landfill! We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we transition to the new system.
