Garbage, Recycling Curbside Collection and Landfill Operating Day CHANGE

New Curbside Collection Schedule and Landfill Hours for Howick Township 

GORRIE, ON (June 13, 2025) – Garbage and Recycling curbside collection in Howick Township will change to Mondays, effective July 7, 2025.

Due to a lack of available staff, Waste Management has requested that Howick Township change curbside waste and recycling collection from Wednesdays to Mondays. This change in collection day is to guarantee more reliable curbside collection service for Howick residents.

 

The first collection day under the new schedule for residences located west of McIntosh Line will be Monday, July 7, 2025. Residences located east of McIntosh Line will move to Monday collection on Monday, July 14, 2025. Curbside collection will take place on all statutory holidays excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. 

 

Due to this change in the curbside waste and recycling schedule, Howick Landfill will no longer be open on Wednesdays but will instead be open on Mondays. The last Wednesday operating hours at Howick Landfill will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Beginning Monday, July 7, 2025, Howick Landfill will be open for regular service each Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

 

The new Howick Landfill hours effective July 7, 2025 will be:

Mondays        Year Round 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays) 
Saturdays      May 2-October 31 9:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. 

November 1 – May 1 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

 

A new curbside collection calendar has been mailed to all residents of Howick Township and is posted on the Howick Township Website under Living Here, Garbage, Recycling & Landfill.
