EXTREME HEAT - COOLING CENTRE OPEN

The Howick Community Centre auditorium will be open today 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. as a cooling centre for anyone looking to escape the heat. Cold water and popsicles will be provided.

There will be FREE Public Swimming at the Howick Optimist Pool (2046 James St. Gorrie) today from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for those who need a place to cool off. The Gorrie Splash Pad is also open daily 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

We encourage everyone to be prepared and take precautions to prevent heat-related illness. Check on neighbours, family and friends, especially older adults with chronic ilness to make sure they are cool and hydrated.
